Throughout the task we learnt many new skills including how important research is before starting the publication. We understood, researching is vital especially when thinking about layout, format and narrative. Through researching, we al understood the particular visual methodology magazines and how they create their narrative. This was an important aspect when thinking about narrative for our publication. InDesign was a tool we used to help create our fashion magazine. The desktop publishing application gave us pixel- perfect control over designs, photos and typography, and helped create elegant and engaging pages for print, tablets, and other screens. From using this program, we have learnt how to design and create a magazine.

page layout
As a group, we decided to have our magaizne as a landscape layout , as we felt it represented the theme of our magazine which is helping the landscape with recycling clothing. The landscape orientation, represents how us a society want to protect the landscape by reducing waste in the fashion industry. Digital magazines often come in both portrait and landscape layouts, and this is what inspired us. The image below is an example of an online magazines that is portryaed in a landscape orientation.

Design- Consume- Use by- Discard (Repeat)
Concept
important issue they show about waste in the fashion industry. Our inspiration was from `Positive magazine`, as their style is simple yet crisp. We liked how they kept every picture the same size and in the same place on each page, we thought it added a repetitive feel to represent the way we as consumers are treated all the same and as mannequins. Typographer and designer Erik Spiekermann inspired us with his creative typefaces where he lengthens and makes the lettering closer together. We tried to make the emphasize the text to capture the publics attention. The Concept behind this fashion editorial is to show how fashion designers make clothes that only last for a short period of time, and how there`s always new trends and therefore is always waste in the fashion industry. We wanted her photographs to represent how consumers act like the fashion industry's mannequin and like clothes how they portray a `use by date`, which is why the model has been portrayed as a mannequin thrown out into the rubbish. The title 'Design- Consume- Use by- Discard (Repeat)' represents the way fashion industry treats there clothing and the consumers.

Positive magazine inspired us, with their designs on simplicity. We liked how they arrange their images in editorials, by keeping every picture the same size and in the same place on each page. The concept for this article spread is based around Jewellery made from car parts. It explains how something that was once considered waste, could be recycled and remade into something beautiful. The jewellery shown here, is photographed in a modern way which will appeal to our target audience.
We have used five pages for this spread, and have dedicated it to recycled jewellery. We have included six images, three of them are positioned on a mannequin modelling different necklaces and the other three are of a model wearing the recycled jewellery. The jewellery has been photographed in a way that makes it appear very desirable, due to the modern styling and the way in which the model is posed.
- Page Layout & Style
For this spread we liked how the designer David Carson overlapped tet over an image, and how positive magazine designs there articles in a simple form. Simplistic pages is what where wanting to acheive, so all the attention was based upon the jewellery, which we thought gave the magazine a modern feel. Positive magazine inspired us with their use of space, and the way they make the images appear spread out equally.
We decided to place three images on two of the double page spreads as we learnt three is an important number in design and makes everything visually appealing. The first page of the article was designed to appear as black as then it fades to white. We thought thiswould make the pages merge with the rest of the magazine, a more profeshinal look. We also used black and white font on the first page as we was inspired by Stefan Sagmeister and how he uses black and white text on his designs.

We felt that this particular article 'Recycled Jewellery Makes Beautiful, Unique Gifts' suited the photographs of jewellery made from car parts perfectly. The article encourages the reader to make jewellery made from waste products and discusses how it `s been made fashionable to make eco friendly jewellery.

'Fast Fashion' Magazine article and images
For my article i wanted to refelct upon how most people wouldn’t be caught dead wearing a shower curtain in public. Few would cover themselves in spent coffee grounds, or wrap their bodies in old fishing nets — at least knowingly. But i wanted to state the fact that there’s a growing trend among clothing manufacturers who are turning all kinds of trash into fashion these days. Old signs and office chairs, they’re all being recycled into clothes that are sold by well-known retailers. “Our evolution toward using trash as our supply chain came through our desire to reduce the impact our clothing has on the planet,” said Jen Rapp, director of communications and public relations for Patagonia, the Ventura-based manufacturer that is largely credited with birthing, then mainstreaming, the trash-to-fashion trend.
I wanted my images to resemble a striking display, deconstructing, re-cutting and completely transforming people’s perception of second-hand clothing or recyclable material, and create ethical fashion with a sense of right and wrong?
I think throughout my work, my chosen references relate to my project, as my self and designers have portrayed environmentally conscious trends in fashion. I wanted to explain the global and personal benefits of adopting these practices, and have demonstrated ways in which individuals, can make conscious changes in their wardrobe choices and reduce their environmental impact of “waste couture” on our planet.
For my page layout i have tried to portray a similar style as the magazine issue ` the black swan issue` (little white lies). I really liked how the designer has placed font over the original image. The design looks unique yet contemporary and stylish. I also referred to our chosen research magazine `positive magazine`. Their page layouts where simple yet intricate. I wanted something similar, so the viewer could clearly understand my work.

Front Cover ideas....?
For our back cover we like the idea of having the same images as we used for the front cover, as we wanted to create the illusion as of the reader has completed a full circle to represent the term `recycling`. The repetition of the images symbolise recycling and upcycling to give the audience the idea of recycling the magazine. This idea was inspired by the back pages of `Positive magazine`.

-Target Audience
16- 30 is the target audience we have selected for our magazine. We thought by selecting this age group it focus`s on the next generation, encourageing them to recycle regually.
- Style
Modern, minimatlistic, and powerful!
The style of a magazinewe want to create has to be noticed as modern as this will appeal to the younger target audience. The style will also represent a minimalistic theme, so all the attention is kept on the images showcasing how fashion can be recycled. Throughout the magazine we where referring back to `positive magazine` and liked how they used the + sign through out the spread, so as a group we came up with the idea of having the recycable logo on the top of every left page.
